Lillie Mae Jones Plaza is a 26-unit new construction rental development to be located at the corner of Macdonald Avenue and 2nd Street in Richmond, CA. The project is a joint venture between Community Housing Development Corporation and the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation. The development includes one, two, three, and four bedroom units whose rents will be set to serve households with incomes below 45% of the area median income.
Lillie Mae Jones Plaza incorporates green building principles in design, construction and operation such as solar panels, water-saving landscaping, trees placed for energy savings, and energy-efficient appliances.
Thirteen of the units will serve individuals and families with a disability who were previously homeless or at risk of homelessness. Supportive services will be available to residents including mental health care, substance abuse prevention, vocational training, and life skills training. The lead service provider, Rubicon Programs Inc., has 33 years of experience providing employment services, mental health care, legal services and case management in the Richmond area, and has specific experience in supportive housing..
The Brookside Community Health Center is developing a medical building next door to Lillie Mae Jones Plaza at 1st Street and Macdonald Avenue. This primary health care clinic in such close proximity will be a substantial asset to the residents of Lillie Mae Jones Plaza, and Brookside also plans to serve as a supportive services partner. Brookside will own and operate the medical facility independently from the housing with a separate financing structure.
